T60 14.1" tft upgrade - XGA to SXGA+

Hi,

I'd like to replace the 14.1" XGA 4:3 tft panel with an SXGA+ one. I already did some research, but I'm still having some questions...

First of all: Would any 14.1" SXGA+ 4:3 panel mechanically fit or are there some panels out there which wouldn't?

Do all these panels have the same connectors?

And do I need to replace any further part to get the SXGA+ panel working?

In http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=57872 there was stated, that the EDID of the display has to be programmed with some Lenovo specific value(s) and because of this no panel except the original Lenovo T60 panels will work out of the box.

Can someone confirm that and in case it's true, did anybody manage it to reprogram the EDID, as proposed in that thread, so a generic panel or a panel from a t4x is working in a T60?

In case it's false or reprogramming of the EDID will work as a charme, which panel would be a good buy?
Viewing angles shouldn't matter (the current XGA panel is much worser regarding this aspect than normal TN desktop displays, but it's sufficient) but brightness definitely does - so as bright as possible please.

For sure the easiest (and most expensive?) way to upgrade, would be to buy an original Lenovo T60 panel. As far as I found out, there are three FRU's, which got built into the T60's: 13N7059, 13N7061, 13N7063. Which one is best in terms of brightness?

And last but not least: If anyone could offer me a panel which is guaranteed to work in a T60, don't hesitate to do so. Also if you know of a dealer offering these FRU's (preferably in Germany or EU), please let me know.

Thanks in advance.
