WLAN causing long boot time

I have problem with black screen only showing cursor during boot. It happens after I have entered my username and password and after the nice little "Welcome" screen I have to watch for a minute or so.

As son as I turn WLAN off with the little switch on the front the boot process continues.

Any ideas what could cause this?
