just downloaded and installed SP1 for Vista. Used the stand alone and did update the UPTEK biometric drivers prior to install

Just a note to anyone out there with t61P that on Vista Ultimate x64 I experienced no problems at all. about 4 reboots and 40 minutes. Have not played with it long, but appears to be fine with no incidents or errors.

Interested to hear who else is running it and what experiences others are having.

Been using it without issue since early Feb when it was RTM and could be found on the web with a little effort.

I installed ist last wednsday on my 64bit installation and didn't experienced any trouble since then.

Just downloaded Windows6.0-KB936330-X64-wave0.exe for MS website and installed it. So far so good. I noticed that swap file configuration bug is gone (no matter what I configured in there Vista always used a 12GB swap file) so now I can tell Vista to use my D drive only for swapping. The system itself feels a bit snappier -- will use it for work this week and I'll see !

Also downloaded and installed SP1 for Vista Ultimate 64 without any problems. Wireless speed seems to be improved after SP1 application.

first issue : my vista 64 does not switch off properly after sp1. It stays on "shutting down" screen forever and i have to hard reboot it

When I first installed SP1 several weeks ago now, I recall I found it necessary to reinstall some of my Lenovo drivers, (as well as Comodo Firewall Pro). I would try reinstalling all the power related drivers.

One of the problems with SP1 is that in the upgrade process it reinstalls all your drivers and some of them don't always install correctly as part of that process, but they will install correctly if you do it afterwards (post SP1) manually.

I have a small issue with my upgrade, 32 bit.

During idle time the CPU and Hard drive are very busy, I thought this was just because it was a fresh install of Vista but it's been nearly a week now.

If I move the mouse all the activity stops and the machine cools down.

I need to investigate further as it looks like the machine has been infected although I cannot find any trace of anything using the normal tools.

One other note is that this only happens after the machine has been idle for half an hour or so with Wifi on.

I'll give it another go tonight with the process view open and power saving disabled s I can at least see what is taking up the CPU cycles.

Other notes, clean install of Vista Business, all updates, all Lenovo updates, Office 2007 and then Vista SP1.

For some reason, I was not able to upgrade. Went to the Microsoft Updates website the other day, checked for updates, and did not even get SP1 in the list. I've a new T61 too, so it's not like I've got old hardware. I'm going to try again today. Not sure why I wouldn't even have the option to install the pack.

A bit off-topic but I found that the default setting for pre- and super-fetch vista features are both "3" -- which means it will try to pre-load boot up files, program files and data files.
After SP1 I switched to 2 and noticed a big performance improvement (I use a lot of huge data files like VMWare files).
Looks like the default value of 3 is not suitable for people dealing with lots of large files.
To change and try, just launch regedit, search for superfetch, and change super-fetch and pre-fetch parameters to "2", and restart superfetch service.
Keys are :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters\EnablePrefetcher
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters\EnableSuperfetch

And ... BTW I do not have the "Shutting down" problem anymore after having re-installed by 3G pcmcia card drivers.

Using Vista Business SP1 x86 for a while now and i did the upgrade route first. When the integrated versions came out on MSDN i snapped it up have been using that so far and love it.

Gonna format my girlfriend's machine soon and get that up and running too. Her system can't install it from Windows Update because of her SigmaTel audio drivers and IDT bought them, they don't have "end user" updates anymore. Gotta wait for Dell but i didn't check there recently. Format and clean install is best

But yeah, Vista worked good on my machine from RTM and it runs good now too

After installing the newest UPEK drivers and a driver for the LAN card, SP1 came up in Win. Update. I installed it in about 1/2 hour without any problems.
It seems to be running fine. I noticed that it "wakes up" faster from standby, and also the cold restarts/starts seem to have sped up. I think the FP reader seems to work better too.
In short, no issues here, just improvements.

what lan drivers did you update? I updated the fingerprint reader driver, and still don't have sp1 appear in WU. I know i don't have the intel graphics driver issue b/c I have an nVida card.

Edit: SP1 showed up in my WU after I installed the optional silverlight update, as well as one of the others. I never installed the nVida driver. Installing sp1 now.

After installing the UPEK drivers, I checked and SP1 wasn't showing in WU yet. However, when I checked a while later, an update for the Intel LAN (ethernet) showed up. After installing that update, SP1 appeared in WU right away. Maybe it was a coincidence, since Microsoft doesn't mention the LAN drivers as a requirement for SP1.

Sorry to quote myself -- but what I said above is completely wrong. Superfetch settings at "3" means boot programs + applications will be pre-loaded in RAM -- nothing to do with data files, and thus it should be left on "3" for best performance.

On SP1, WU already aked me to install a couple of post-SP1 updates. So far so good, overall Vista experience is better with than without SP1.
