9 Cell Battery - Question

So I finally got my 9 cell and it's great to be able to carry my smaller thinkpad to classes.
But I have a question ...
About 6 times a week I need to run on the battery. Would it be better for the battery (in terms of longevity before failing) if I were to set the thinkvantage software to charge at 30 and stop at 50%?
I have always heard that lith ion batteries are happiest around 40%. I don't need to use the entire capacity of the battery and if I do, I can charge it before I need it.
