Questions about T61 (Pic)

#1 Post by Mac » Tue Mar 25, 2008 9:49 pm

Does anyone have a side by side visual comparison on how big a 9 cell battery looks on a T61 compared to a 6 or 7 cell battery?

Why is the 7 cell battery cheaper than the 9 cell battery when configuring a T61?

Image

Also, do you know if warranty is transferable (from one person/country to another person/country)? I'm asking this question because I think I'm getting a relative to buy me a T61 from U.S. and have my relative ship it to me (faster shipping...).

How are the USB ports for T61 compare with R61; do the ports allow wide USB keys?

And how long does the shipping take in US and how much is it usually?

MOD EDIT: As per forum rules a picture warning has been added.

The T61 14" wide cannot even use the 9-cell battery, so it must be a mistake.

Warranties are transferable between people. Validity of warranty in other countries depends on the model number. This webpage will tell you:

14" T61 can use 9 cell battery without problem. That's what my sister has :)
As for price, maybe 7 cell battery has tighter packed cells and do not extend beyond base fo thinkpad? 9 cell batteries look kinda ugly.

I have some photos comparing my 14,1" Z61t to my sister's 14,1" T61. Both have 9 cell batteries.[/url]

There was a post before I think about the 9-cell size; use search, don't remember. I have a T61p 14" with a 9-cell and it sticks out about .9" from the back.

Isn't the 7-cell more expensive you mean ($67.50 vs $52.50 for the 9-cell)? And that could be for many reasons unbeknown to us. Supply and demand, or material, or whatever reasons anyone else would like to creatively explain.

For the USB's I have two horizontal and one vertical.

For shipping, see the shipping sticky. I mean it's right there c'mon now. ;)

And they usually say stuff on the product page like "free shipping on all orders" or at least you can go through checkout to get an estimate and it'll even show you tax.

In the pictures both laptops have 7 cell batteries. 9 cell battery on the T61 sticks out more. I will try posting some pictures later on.

Wait the T61 14.1" Widescreen can get a 9 Cell Battery now? As opposed to being limited to the 4, 6, and 7 cell options?

why in the world is that battery angled up like that? Not only does that look awful for fitting in a bag's laptop compartment, it's ugly as sin.

Yes, 9 cell battery can bought from Lenovo now. As for the battery being angled up, yea it looks ugly.

I think it's angeled up to shorten the battery length/width that stick out from the back of the laptop.

How much does T61 14.1" weigh with 9 cell battery? If you're in school, does it fit well in your bag along with your books?

Edit: Is there a possibility the battery will fall out on its own due to its large size?

Gee, the 14.1" widescreen T61 looks terrible even with the 4-cell battery. With this tilted 9-cell batt, it's definitely the ugliest laptop ever made, by far!

And it is heavy too to boost, comparing to the 9 cell option on the 14.1" non-wide-screen version.

Wait a minute, my new T61p 9-cell battery from Lenovo DOES NOT stick up like that.

ThinkZ61 - Is this an after market battery you purchased?

Had there was any 14.1'' T61p in Widescreen display, it would've.

Honestly, if they had any sense about that battery design, they would have just made it square and simply extend the end of the notebook, rather than break the form of the styling...

Wow, thats terrible. My t60's 9 cell is like half that size, how does that work?

I hadn't seen a truly profile picture of the 9 cell in a T61 before now. That's really awful.

In a 15.4" it might be slightly better, but considering I use my TP plugged in most of the time, I'm glad I went with a flush battery (4 cell) at the time. With the Quadro, I might be less happy with a 4 cell, but still happier than that.
