In an attempt to restore my T60 (2373) to factory state and make recovery cd's, my efforts have failed as a result of the following:

**correction model 1953-D6U

1. Restore Hard Drive to Factory State

2. The Product Recovery Function has been removed from this system??????

Prior to posting on this forum, I reviewed this website in detail and have attempted several recommendations for similar situations - and also made contact with IBM to get a copy of the recovery CD's - all without success.

As a result, I thought I could utlize a legitimate copy of Windows XP I had available with the licence from the sticker posted on the botoom of the computer - I've learned that was not an option.

IBM insists on charging an addtional $45 to receive the recovery CD's - even though I hold a legitimate licence?

I appreciate any assistance.

mod edit: Thanks for keeping the size of the pics down. I've added picture warning to the title of the post.

If the recovery partition on the hard disk has been deleted or another hard disk has been swapped for the original--either way the recovery partition isn't there--you're SOL w/o the recovery CDs.

Welcome to the forum!

You can post a WTB (want to buy) thread in the marketplace.

Usually a model 2373 is a T4x not a T60 though.

Brad -

Your right! I happened to be typing the message on my T42 and looked at the bottom of that machine - the T60 I'm speaking of is a 1953-D6U.

Is the machine still under warranty?

In my experience, upgrading RnR3 to 4 will remove the factory restore functionality. There is a big confirmation window during the upgrade process. Maybe this is what happened.
