Hi there,

My trusty t42p just buckled under with the loose video solder syndrome. I am getting it fixed under warranty but I'm seriously wondering if the time has not come to do an upgrade.
Hence I'm interested to know of any vendor who has t60p 15' flexview in stock or if I'm stuck with whatever I can dig up on ebay.

Also thanks for one of the most brilliant forums on the net, you guys are setting a standard few other can live up to.

I think it is unlikely you'll find a new T60 with a FlexView screen though I suppose not impossible. I think I saw a few weeks ago I saw someone here who said they got a new one, though I have no idea from where. As well as eBay and Craiglist, FlexView T60s do on occasion come up for sale here in the Marketplace forum.

Hi brixvold
Welcome to the Forum! It's the finest I've been involved in yet and I think you will almost always find useful answers and help for your Thinkpad needs.

I ordered a Flexview screen from eBay seller Browngranite last year. Basically I bought the screen to have a spare Flexview screen in case mine ever went out and Lenovo no longer carried them. There was considerable discussion about that possibility at the time and I wanted to cover my bases. I received the screen as advertised and it appears to be new. I did not install it so I can't vouch for that the fact that it actually works. (I know, sounds crazy, but that has partly to do with the fact that I'm in Brazil and I had to have it delivered in the U.S. Also, I view it as a kind of expensive insurance.) There were good reviews of seller Browngranite from a couple of other Forum users at the time and everything else about the sale and delivery were very satisfactory.

The link I provided you is to a page with all their current UXGA (Flexview) screens. I didn't see a T42p but there were some T40p's. You could check around on the Forum and see if those would work.

I would recommend Browngranite based on my experience, especially if you are in a situation in which you could install the screen right away and test it.

Good luck,

I saw at least five T60ps with Flexview sold in the Marketplace here in the past two months, I bought one of them too. So keep an eye on the Marketplace here, maybe you could have a good find :)

In my country (The Netherlands) brandnew T60 (NO "P") 15" models are regularly offered incl. 1400x1050 Flexview screen (ATI 1400x)

However, I haven't noticed any Dutch supplier offering a T60P 15" unit providing a 1600x1200 Flexview screen. I believe these T60P models are, if new, not any longer available.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there were 2 different types of Flexview screens in T60 series available:

1) Plain T60, 15" screen, ATI 1400 GPU, Flexview 1400x1050 (LG/Philips)
2) T60P, 15" screen, ATI FireGL V5200 GPU, Flexview 1600x1200 (Hydis)

Try this ebay vendor - Although the T60p I have pointed out in the link has the older ATi FireGL V5200 graphics card and T2500 (2GHz) Core Duo CPU - this model does seem to carry the UXGA panel with a Lenovo 1-year warrenty - (may also have a German keyboard?) - But if interested maybe worth contacting them to re-confirm the EXACT spec before it's snapped-up! :D
