I am replacing my hardrive and overhauling the machine in general, and was wondering what the consensus was on the best back-up method for this machine prior to hardrive removal? Thanks.

Use Acronis True Image to backup the entire HD to an external drive or to another drive in an Ultrabay adapter. Make a set of recovery discs before removing the drive.
