I did a quick search and didn't find any results, so I apologize if this has already been covered,

but does anyone know the max resolution the X3100 can drive, when using two external lcd's?

this is assuming you're using the advanced dock / advanced mini-dock and running the externals on the VGA and DVI ports.

can it support two monitors at 1600X1050 each? 1900X1200?

AFAIK the intel card will not drive 2 external monitors, only one. You need a discrete card for that.

I have not seen any information from either Lenovo or Intel which would indicate that the Mobile Intel GMA X3100 would not support two external displays. Intel says it does support up to two different displays. In such a setting, the notebook's built-in screen would not be functional. Intel states 2048 x 1536 @ 60 Hz and 32 bpp (reduced blanking time) as max. resolution. They add that this resolution may not be supported on all ports or in all dual display configurations. Reduced blanking time means it will not work with CRT monitors at this resolution.

One member of this board is driving a WUXGA (1920 x 1200) flat panel display from the X3100.

If you should try to run two external displays from the X3100 and not get satisfactory results, i suggest reducing the load on the Graphics Media Accelerator by turning off Aero (if you use Vista) and/or reducing color depth.
