T61 Drivers after a reformat?

I just received my T61 yesterday. The model is 7658-CTO (I think that's the model number). Anyway, I had it reformatted and now I'm wondering which drivers are essential. My screen seems dimmer now, though I think I already installed the video and/or display drivers. I just need the essential drivers that will get this laptop running. Which one will make my laptop as bright as it was before I reformatted again? Which driver is the one where if you adjust sound/screen brightness, a bar on the screen shows the level of sound/screen brightness? Anything else that would be useful? The power manager?

Thanks for the help!

edit: I should have said I formatted to Vista Ultimate if that makes a difference. Also, I restarted and the screen brightness issue seems to be fixed. I can now adjust the brightness to a higher level. I guess the only thing bugging me now is the lack of sound/screen brightness bars when I adjust them.

edit2: I'm not going to use the ThinkVantage software (unless you have really persuasive reason that I'm not aware of). Is there a way to program it to launch other programs instead? Thanks and pardon my computer ignorance.

I might reformat once again and install the 64bit version of Vista instead. This will complicate the whole drivers issue won't it?

Sounds like you need the OSD (On Screen Display) driver installed.

Yeah, I did, but it didn't work. I looked around and someone reported that a lenovo rep told him that he needed to install three other drivers (I don't remember exactly which one at the moment) before installing a 4th one. So I will have to reformat again, which I was going to do anyway since I'm going to try to switch to 64bit.
