Memory module doesn't fit?

Hello everybody

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T61, 7664 with 2GBs of memory and the other day I ordered an additional GB memory. After looking through Lenovo's website I found that this would be the right one to buy:

I received it yesterday but when I tried to install it I found that the small hole in the chip did not match the tap on the computer perfectly and I couldn't fit in the memory module! I took this picture of it:

The small tap seems to be a couple of milimeters off... Have I chosen the wrong type of memory or is it a defect or am I doing something wrong?[/url]

Your new T61 takes PC2-5300 or higher. PC2700 only work until T42.

Try this table.

That module in the picture is a DDR version. The T61 requires DDR2 modules. The difference is exactly what you see; the alignment notch in the edge of the module does not line up with the socket in the laptop. Here's a photo of the differences:

The module you referenced at the Lenovo site is exactly what is said it was... DDR.
