Hi. Is there a way to tell whether the T60p i just ordered has a magnesium case and/or carbon-fiber and if it is carbon fiber, do i need to protect it in a different way? the model is 2007 DU DuoCore 2.33 GHz, 3 Gb ram.

The outer black casing of the bottom of a T60 is made of carbon reinforced plastic. Nestled within said casing is the light grey roll cage that's hewn from magnesium.

That said I don't take any chances at all with my T60 and when I'm out and about and it rides in the safety of a Targus Corporate Traveler case with SafePORT air cushion protection--if anything simply for good laptop karma.

While that's good practice in caring for your ThinkPad (which deserves it). Speaking from personal experience, T60s are WAY tougher than the T40s ever were and flex much less.
