Hi, I have a Thinkpad T61P running Vista Business with 2 gig ram and wireless usb. I would like to take out the Intel turbo memory and use the open mini-pci slot for a Verizon Wireless Rev. A internet card. Is this possible? If so, which card should I look for and where is the best place to buy it? Thanks for any help!

Any ideas? I opened the computer up last night and it doesn't seem to have the antenna installed for a wwan card. Has anyone added the necessary antenna and if so how difficult is the process?

I have added WWAN antenna to T60, it wasn't really a pleasant experience to disassemble the screen and then put it back with all cables still in their places. But it was the first laptop I've disassembled further than replacing its keyboard.

You can add WWAN card to the full-length miniPCIe slot (WUSB is half-length). As for antennas, there are two, one should go under the palmrest, the second through hinge to the display. Consult Hardware Maintenance Manual for parts needed and/or lenovoservicetraining.com.

As for the card itself, you can buy it from Lenovo, which will work out of the box. If you'd want to use any card which isn't a part number sold by Lenovo and listed as an option in HMM for T61, you'd have to patch BIOS not to stop booting because of unauthorized card.

You can buy all parts needed from Lenovo spare parts.
