T60 Battery and Hardrive purchase

#1 Post by LacquerHead » Fri Apr 25, 2008 8:25 pm

I was hoping to buy both these items soon to upgrade my T60 2007AU and did not want to shell out Lenovo prices. Any suggestions on where to purshase legit and cost effective Lenovo products? Thanks!

For the hard drive, any 2.5'' drive with good reviews will work. I believe the T60s use a Fujitsu drive.

The battery, I would go with a Lenovo battery.

Newegg.com is a good site to shop for computer stuff.

Almost any drive should work as long as it uses a SATA connector.

I just got the nine cell for my R60. I paid $90 off pricegrabber. There were lower priced ones, but I was pretty sure they were not Lenovo batteries.

What is your model and type? There appears to be a digit missing.

Seagate

I was thinking of buying a Seagate 200GB drive for $150 that I found. The battery is proving to be a little tougher to find. Im a bit skeptical about the performace of these 6-cell jobs pricing online at less than $100.

I actually prefer Hitachi 7k200 200gb. Selling @zipzoomfly for $135.

As for battery, someone posted a IBM parts hotline 800 number that sells battery with reasonable price but I can't find that thread anymore.

I just purchased a 200GB Seagate Momentus 7200.2 (ST9200420AS) for my T61p, and now she flies. I'd definitely recommend one... in fact, here I am now, recommending one.

Whaddya know?

T60s use Hitachi drives, not that it matters much, just need a SATA connector like they said. I would definitely get a 7200 rpm drive now that they're closer in price. I get batteries off ebay, a lot of people end up with spare batteries for some reason or another. They end up going for anywhere from $40 to $80. Just make sure it's a reputable seller and a genuine Lenovo battery.
now: X61, T42p
before: 600E, T23, X20, T40, X40, X31, T60
FS: Travel Bezel, 100GB drive (OEM Lenovo)

My T60 has a factory stock Western Digital HDD. So Lenovo surely isn't sticking to one single OEM for its HDDs.
