Have I bricked my T60?

#1 Post by Potiphar Breen » Sat Apr 26, 2008 7:05 pm

And if not, what do I do?

I have just tried to transfer files to it using a flash drive for the first time: Turned the machine on with the flash drive in place, on wall power. Accidentally logged on as the wrong user. Rebooted.

The machine is running XP. It got lost during the reboot and sat there flashing the AC led. I eventually held the ON button down for a while. The machine turned itself off and is now unresponsive, on battery or AC adapter, with or without the flash drive.

Is there any way out of this, or should I be really glad it's still under warranty?

Thanks.

Take the main battery out, and unplug it. Press the power button 5 times holding is for a full 10 seconds on the last one. Put it back together and try again. I don't think you did anything to cause tha problem.

It worked! Thanks!

Unfortunately, now it's giving me a "critical low battery" error and shutting down. The machine has been plugged in for several weeks, and I would have expected the battery to be full. Any thoughts?

When it is plugged in, does the power light come on?

Yes. And that probably explains things. In trying to figure out why it wouldn't light up, I found that the machine wasn't plugged in after all. Too darned many wires and cables here to keep them all straight!

Many thanks for your help.
