I am considering buying a backup and network NAS solution like mybook. How much do you think I would need to manage notes, website and clients projects. I think 500gb is more than enough. WHat do you think? Or maybe a backup with server abilities. how do you back up your website? I need a simple and straightforward system that doesnt need to much oversight and tweaking. Im not good at that stuff.

in terms of content, probably flash movies is as techie as im going to get. but i will be working with quarkxpress and adobe's stuff.

Do you think i can host a website on a nas device instead of file server? such as LaCie Ethernet Big Disk. or is there a cheap file server. most likely my web host will have all the space i need. still might be a good idea to have a backup.

Well, it's probably different for everyone else.

I use a 500gb mybook (just because it was the cheapest) to back everything up to. 3 laptop drives, server (3 drives total) and parents computer. Works great. It's small enough that I can carry it with me every time I leave campus or go on vacation

But my operation really isn't critical. If my server goes up in smoke , no one is going to be losing money.

Guess it depends on what you are backing up.
