T61 - Access Connections no longer will start

When I first got the laptop Access connections would start, it was a little slow and would kind of freeze at times which bugged me but now it won't start at all... I try and open it and a screen pops up with the Access Connections logo but it never goes away and loads the access connections control panel anymore... it just stays like that... I have left it for hours and still no difference.

Should I reformat or go back to factory settings? If so how do I do that?(factory settings that is) - and if I do will I lose the thinkvantage suite or anything? I don't care about my software I currently have installed, I can back that up, but I don't want to lose any of the factory software such as ThinKVantage/access connections.

Please advise!

Why don't you go to the Lenovo site and install the latest version of access connections?

Actually now that you say that, I think that could be the problem... I recently downloaded updates for most everything on my computer, it was around this time when the Access Connections thing stopped working but I made no correlation between the two(I actually forgot I upgrade it) - so is there anyway to roll back the latest update to access connections or not?

Does Lenovo have your old version avail for dl? Do you know what it is? I know I wouldn't

Like I said on NBR to your post, I believe there are certain pre-requisites to upgrading Access Connections. In my case I believe I had to upgrade my wireless drivers first. The necessary steps are on the Lenovo site along with the Access Connections download.

Here's the page for XP:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4ZLNJB

Note the readme lists all the things you have to check before you upgrade. This may be your problem

I had the same problem last week. I was using AVG antivirus (free edition) and it returned a false positive for a virus (ZLOB.download.WFI). After alerting me to the virus, I couldn't connect via wireless at all. Long story short, I had to uninstall AVG --> restart my machine --> download the latest version of Access Connections --> restart my machine again. I was then able to connect and haven't had a problem since. I found that information on the AVG site.

Thanks alot! I knew about the version compatibility and pre-requisites and had that all sorted out but would never have guessed that AVG had a problem with it.

Now a question, I run a business so I have purchased Kaspersky license in bulk, I didn't initially use it because on my dell pc when I installed kaspersky it screwed up my system restore... when I updated it appears to be fixed however I did not want to install kaspersky and then find out down the road that my system restore/thinkvantage restore or other thinkvantage software will be effected by doing this... anyone know anything about this? I really like Kaspersky because it finds nearly everything but I can't afford to lose data or anything like that becasue kaspersky screwed my system restore etc. Thanks again guys for the help!
