well all you have to do is have the latest drivers for your card. The Intel one from Lenovo is Draft 2.0 and the atheros is also so just as long as you have that you are fine.
there is no "firmeware" updates needed for the cards, just your router.

You just have to use WPA-PSK AES encryption to get 270/300Mb rate.

And, if you're using the intel 4965agn, you have to use 5.8ghz.sjthinkpader wrote:You just have to use WPA-PSK AES encryption to get 270/300Mb rate.

Highest you get in 2.4ghz is 125mbps.
If you have an Atheros card, the DLink DIR655 is the best to get
If you have an intel, the Linksys WRT600N is the best to get.
Between these two, not sure which I prefer more. I have just replaced the DIR655 with the WRT600N for 5.8ghz...signal strength is about the same, the WRT600N lets me set up a drive as a NAS drive. I've only had it for 3 days, so not sure how reliability is quite yet.
