Are there any thinkpads that support more than 4GB or memory .... I'd like to run 64 bit vista with 8GB memory ...

I'm not sure, but I think Thinkpads T61/p support 8 GB... I'm not sure, though.

the problem right now is that no 4GB SODIMMs exist for public consumption.   the current generation thinkpads will likely support 8GB when they are released but until then we have to wait.

well i remember either Kingston or Corsair or someone announcing a 4GB single stick of DDR2 RAM. IT would cost the low low price of about $400 each stick. I think it was coming out in June or sometime too.

Can't find the link now but i know there was one here.

i could use 8GB, too, but at $800 i'd rather put the money into a proper workstation.   personally, i'm getting tired of throwing cash into notebooks just to keep up with requirements. :?

Agreed. I seem to recall Dell offering 8GiB (2x4GiB) on one of the recent Precision Mobile Workstations at an equally high price (addtional $800 or $1000, or something like that).
