T60 fan noise

I have been using a Dell laptop and have noticed how much more noisey the fan on my T60 is.
The Dell runs almost silent
Do all T60's run noisey and is there a way to reduce the noise?

Yes. No, but if you turn the discrete graphics card down (if you have it) and use TPfancontrol to set the fan not to come on until the temperature reaches 55C or 60C, then the fan will be off most of the time (especially if you use XP rather than Vista).

Windows Vista has proved to be a very demanding operating system, I've seen it happening on many thinkpads and particularly after the installation of SP1, I suggest you use TPfancontrol or wait for lenovo to rollout next batch of BIOS updates, but my message is going to sound like all speculation since the OP hasn't mentioned which OS he/she is using or whether latest BIOS update has been applied to the machine or not.

My thinkpad T60 is running Vista Business with the SP1 update installed,
The Dell I mentioned was running Vista Premium, the Dell is not as thin as T60 if that has to do with anything.. also the Dell is a pretty basic model.
