Build quality of advanced dock - TP has no firm hold

Hi,

When at home, I usually use my T61 sitting on an advanced dock. I think they are both great devices, but I'm a bit disappointed about how they fit together physically - when the Thinkpad is on the dock and I type some text on its keyboard (i don't use an external keyboard because I love my Thinkpad's quality keyboard), the machine tends to vibrate a bit. In other words, the dock doesn't hold the laptop as firm as I would expect.
The effect is most pronounced when you exert pressure near the lower right corner - then, the left edge tends to push up - and when you don't have the battery mounted.
That's really a drawback to the dock, because otherwise it is handy to use it in conjunction with the lap as a desktop replacement due to its inclined angle (good for typing) and the enhanced connection possibilities.

However, I think you could fix the issue by modding the dock a bit, e.g., I could try to glue a foam pad near the right edge of the dock.

I wonder what experiences you guys made with the dock, if you encountered the same problem and if you worked out how to fix it.

Are you sure you are docking completely? We have a advanced mini dock at school that we share and I hate that I have to fiddle with docking before I get a good fit. What works for me is this: I place the T60 on the dock, lift the dock and thinkpad together and press the underside of the dock with the thinkpad until I hear a solid 'click'. Just placing the thinkpad on the dock and pressing usually never gives this kind of a fit. Anyone else feel the same?

The older docks for T23/T4x were way way better when it came to ease of docking.

i tried the way you described to mount the thinkpad on the dock and it didn't change anything.
In my case the dock doesn't seem to have too much play concerning the snapping mechanism.
