loud shutter-like clicking sound -- not normal, right?

Hi. I bought a T60 widescreen (8743-cto) earlier this year. I'm having issue where I hear a loud clicking sound, like a long camera shutter click, when the speaker volume is on loud and i hit 'back' or 'forward' or click on links. Usually, it's a single click, but sometimes it's a stuttered double click (there's noise when I click link and again when page changes). The noise is quite startling when the volume is at least halfway and noticeable when it's at least 4 bars. (Also, there's no noise when I "X" out of a web site or hit return key in text document)

95% of time I have volume muted, so I hadn't paid it too much mind, but when i have it on, I'm reminded how annoying it is and wonder if others have same issue. I've had two R series thinkpads before and this was never an issue with them.

Before I called Lenovo, thought I'd check if others have had this issue or could help me better describe when I call.

Much thanks. Betty

You have some sort of a sound theme selected in windows. Just change it to something else or disable it! Nothing wrong with your thinkpad.

Sounds like the typical clicking of microsoft internet explorer. Try using firefox.
