i have ibm t60p 2.33 GHz, 3 Gb ram, firegl V5200. my son hooked me on playing pirates of the carribean online with his T43p. having a T60p i thought no problem but the game is constantly freezing due to video issue despite my lowering desktop to 800x600 and 16 color. i cured problem by removing ati drivers and not installing the new ati drivers thinkvantage update found but i would like to install and use the ati drivers because without it CCC and ati chipsets are not running. Anyone have any ideas? I called ATI and they referred me to IBM for any driver downloads.

If you are using XP, you can try Omega Driver. It is optimized for gaming.

sorry for my ignorance but im kind of new at this. how would i do that? Where do i get these Omega drivers and how do i install them? And should i re-install the latest ati V5200 drivers through Thinkvantage before installing it or leave it uninstalled as i am doing right now since the game is working without installing it? sorry for my ignorance.

I don't recommend the omega drivers for the v5200. They work, but i felt that the latest releases are slower than ati's own driver. I'm using atis own firegl driver on winxp, and works great. I see now that a new driver was just released. I am using the previous, but i expect this one to work just as well:

edit: Just tested the basic POC game, and i can't get it to hang anywhere at 1600x1200, everything at the maximum setting. Everything runs great too.

Thank you for your input. I had downloaded the latest ati from Lenovo/thinkvantage autoupdate but the game would run and freeze and then boot me despite whatever settings I used. I uninstalled the ati drivers from control panel and am running on default (whatever that maybe) with the warning (CCC is not supported by your video driver..please update your drivers). However the game now runs fine. HELPPP. My T43 (now my son's) worked just fine with the game FYI.
