I had the misfortune of damaging my thinkpad while taking a shower; the steam apparently damaged the touchpad.

I'm wondering if it's repairable; the only symptom is that whenever the touchpad is turned on by the thinkvantage driver, the left-mouse button does not work on either the touchpad or the trackpoint.

Sorry to hear that your ThinkPad had a steam shower - The touchpad & mouse buttons are an integral part of the palm rest assembly, although the touchpad may have a dedicated part number associated (when stripped down), it can not as far as I know be ordered as an individual item (FRU).

Before investing in a replacement palm rest assembly, try removing it and re-seating the connector that comes from the touchpad electronics to the motherboard - Also, I do hope that there is no other damage caused by the steam to other components/parts.

However if your ThinkPad is under warranty, get it check out by Lenovo tech's.
