Monitor goes to sleep, comes back borked.

#1 Post by Hakubi » Wed May 07, 2008 3:48 am

Hello,

Been using my thinkpad T61P 6459CTO for about 2 months now and it has been good to me, until today when i installed XP Service pack 3.

I have my laptop power settings set to turn the LCD off after 20 min of idle time and it works fine until tonight ... when i went AFK for 20 min i came back and the LCD was off (good) ... but when i went to wake up the LCD with my mouse only the very right side of the screen had anything visable on it... and even then it was VERY faint and had no color.

the only thing that worked was totally shutting off the computer and then restarting ... everything started up normally ... i haven't tried to let it idle into monoff since then, but I'm still worried that something might be wrong with the LCD backlight and not a windows hiccup from SP3...

can anyone comment?

I've never experienced this, so I'm not here with a solution. It's a scary thought that it might have been the SP3 update though.
Good luck, I hope you solve this.

I have had this happen a few times ... I just shut the lid and open it again. Usually fixes it.

It is a software problem. I don't have mine set to go into standby when I shot the lid.
