Has anyone ever put a Core 2 Extreme X9100 in a T61?

Ah screw it. I'll just wait for the T400 and get the LED backlighting. I wonder how much it'll cost.

Hi all,

I'm curious of the answer to this. Is the x9100 compatible with the T61/p's board?

Currently, I have an x9000 and it works great! :)

If anyone knows that would be awesome.

Thank you!

I don't think it would as the x9100 has a 1066 MHz bus speed while the chipset in the T61 supports up to 800 MHz FSB Core 2 Duos.

So is this the final answer or is there any definitive proof of this working/not working?

As stated, the T61 only supports a 800MHz FSB. Why would you throw around that kind of money on a CPU that doesn't match the chipset specifications regardless of whether or not it works? If it does work, it would downclock too far to be worth it by any means.
