Win XP recovery disks - For new HD?
Quick question, is there any way to make a set of recovery discs that do not include the data on your HD but simply a fresh image of the OS, without all the crap that has polluted it since I bought this notebook 2 years ago. I have a T60 2007 4AU and am replacing the old 60 GB HD with a new 200GB HD 7200RPM by Hitachi. I dont really have a place to get a copy of Win XP with the keycode so I was hoping to use an image off the original HD. Any ideas? Thanks!

One more question
The other question I have is if I transfer the image via CD (or whatever source I can) can I do a factory restore when the image is put on the new HD? To go back to default settings and will that erase all the junk and clutter?
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

If you make recovery CD's from the image that came with your machine, it will only recover your HD to the Factory state. And you can use those cd's to image your new drive...to the factory state.
I think that is what you want, right?

Correct
This is exactly what I want to do. I dont have a set of these disks currently and am looking to make them. How do I go about doing that?

I don't have a T60 anymore
but I think if you push the blue access IBM button it explains how to do it. I think you go to your thinkvantage software in programs and look for "create rescue media" or "create recovery media" from there just follow the instructions. You may need 1 DVD and a couple CD's or maybe 8 or so blank CD's depending on your system.
