T60 blue screens after Sp3

#1 Post by liliggyracin » Thu May 08, 2008 3:24 pm

Anyone have anything similar to this happening? Have installed Sp3 on 2 different T60s and bsod each time. Same software same hardware same updates before running. I installed it on my Lenove 9088-A2U and it works fine. Any ideas? For the meantime I am on Sp2 but I would like to know how to fix this before other people start installing it on their machines for now I am blocking the install at the WSUS server and not letting it deploy which works unless they arent on the domain... And go to Windows Update on their own.

Any advice is helpful

No problems with my T60. I downloaded the .exe Installer and used it with no problems. I had done NO system updates since New in 2006.

Well hell I dont know what the heck is going on. I formatted it started over clean install. to Sp2. Loaded Sp3 and BSOD. Am trying to get the Error code now so I can look that up but GROWL this is annoying. Why dont they just say what Microsoft means. "This service pack is not compatible with any known versions of Windows and if installed will void your warranty." lol Well I feel better now. :P

Installed successfully on my 2623-DDU without issue.

I know you are not asking but I also installed this SP on a T43p, A22p, T41 X 3, and several desktops. All without any BSOD's.

That error message could give you a clue as to where the error is.

Figured it out

Both machines that kept bluescreening on me stopped after I removed the 2gig kingston memory chips. Funny thing is. after it booted into windows I shut down and put the cards back in. And it booted back up. Hmmm not seated correctly or just my stroke of luck causing me to do 20 extra steps to make the same outcome as everyone else. :P Anyway problem resolved for now. :bouncing-bird: <------ Lol I love this and figured it needed to be in my thread.

Whats the RECENT / UPDATED consensus for Windows XP Service Pack 3 SP3 on the T61 series of laptops?

I'd like answers specific to the T61 only.
T61 8892-02U: 14.1"SXGA+/2.2C2D/4G/XP|Adv Mini Dock|30" Gateway XHD3000 WQXGA via Dual-link DVI
X61T 7767-96U: 12.1"SXGA+/1.6C2D/3G/Vista|Ultrabase
W510 4319-2PU: 15.6"FHD/i7-720QM/4G/Win7Pro64 (for dad)
T43 1875-DLU: 14.1"XGA/1.7PM-740/1G/XP (Old)

I have been installing it on model 6457-4XU without any problems (so far about 60 installations) Also as for the T60p problem blue screening I figured out that it was a crappy video driver that was being installed by MS in SP3 and I resolved it by going into Safe-mode (something I should have done before posting yes... ) and removing and installing the Lenovo driver. After that all is well. But as for the T61. No problems that I have encountered yet.

Thanks.

Absolutely no issues on my T60 2613-EKU. No issues on coworker's 8892-02U T61 either ...
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU

Rules of the road :thumbs-UP:
