T61 system error nvidia on hibernate/sleep

Hi,

I have an issue with my T16 with nvidia quatro graphics. Basically, it has vista, all latest patches and a factory build. A problem has emerged recently and i have no idea why.

When I put the lid down or simply put it into sleep, 80-90% of the time, a few hours later, the machine has somehow restarted itself and I get this vista popup window saying there was a critical error...something related to the nvidia drivers.

I re-installed the nvidia drivers but that made absolutely no difference.

So I have so few options now. A complete rebuild of the machine is going to take days of effort.

Might anyone know what to do?

thanks for the tip. i'll try when i get home.

i did notice something however, the process is this

1. i am logged in using vista
2. i put the lid down, or go into sleep
3. i wake up the laptop...and it "resumes". great. i get the "resuming" vista icon show....
4. it resumes..but it seems to have logged me out, so i get presented with the login screen.
5. I login then get this fatal error message about nvidia.

so, what is going on, maybe it is the resumption that fails...at some point. weird.

Check your BIOS. A new BIOS was release on Apr 28th for both the T61 and T61p laptops. At my work place, we've found that the BIOS update (and the latest video drivers from the website for Windows XP) fix a number of graphics and standby issues.
