Just bought a used T60 and I cant get wireless to connect and when I looked deeper the only adapter under the network adapters under device manager is "intel(R) PRO/1000 PL network connection" and under access connections that is the only one as well. Is it possible that the guy took the wireless hardware out? How can I check if it is there? How do I fix this? thanks

You Might try going into BIOS Setup and see if the wireless adapter is enabled. When my T60 was delivered, the Wireless Adapter was enabled but the 10/100 Network Adapter was NOT enabled. It did not show up on the Device list until I enabled it in BIOS.

so I went into the bios and it shows "internal wireless device" and "internal wireless WAN device" both enabled. If the hardware was broken or not there would those options be there to enable it or keep it "hidden" in the bios? any other ideas? thanks

I don't have a T60 here without a wireless card to test, but I think the option will be there even if there is no card.

yeah, my T60 without a WWAN has the option that says it's Enabled.
The card has probably been removed - you don't have any yellow exclamation marks in the Device Manager? If the driver isn't installed and it's under "unknown device" or something like that?

Some T60s come with no wifi. However there should be built-in antenna pre-installed. To confirm that you can do a model search at Lenovo website:
http://tinyurl.com/2wvjea
//it points to lenovo website but the link was too long so I tinyurled it.
//If you see "Wireless upgradeable" in system summary of the search results, it means the antenna is pre-installed.
All you need to do to get the wireless working is to installed a certified wireless card.
Or you can get a wireless card that's not certified and replace the stock BIOS with the modded one from here:

Before getting any wireless N card for a T60 make sure you have 3 antennas not 2.

it has the antenna "bars" on the top and on the right side of the screen, does this mean I can only get G, or is the 3rd antenna somewhere else and if I didnt have N I wouldnt have one on the top? or right?

What is the model number of your T60? AFAIK, most of the early (core duo) T60s did not come with wireless n. With your model number you cane easily find out what features your machine came with at
this link.

As I said, T60, not T60p ... Most T60p models came with WWAN. Also, your machine is a Core 2 Duo, by which time draft-n wireless started coming out in thinkpads.
How do I know? I wanted to buy a 15" T60 with UXGA back in aug 06, but could not. I'd have taken a T60p if not for WWAN, I have no need for that

Even with a T60P, core 2 Duo, you have to check for that 3rd antenna. I have a T60P core 2 and it unfortunately does not have the 3rd antenna.
