Sierra Wireless MC5725 troubles >_<

#1 Post by Makikun » Thu May 22, 2008 10:09 am

Alrighty. I have a T61p with a VZW Sierra Wireless MC5725 and I have recently been getting some weird issues. Sometimes when I boot up the laptop and I go into device manager, it shows up as a AC595 card. WTF right? So I installed the AC595 drivers and was able to connect using the VZAccess Manager however it would NOT connect at Rev-A speeds. My house is about 2 football fields away from a tower and I have full signal. So, I reboot the laptop again, it now shows up as a MC5725 in device manager. I then have to configure VZAccess Manager to connect using the MC5725 device. It connects fine but still no Rev-A speeds. I then go onto VZW site and re-activate my USB720 modem and that connects fine at Rev-A speeds. I think I may have a defective MC5725 but I was wondering if anyone knows if I can update firmware on the device? Any help would be awesome.

I tried contacting Sierra Wireless but of course they won't support it because it's an embedded device... Would Lenovo replace it? I purchased the card seperately and installed the proper antennas. It does have a Lenovo FRU. Do you think its covered under any specific warranty?
