9 Cell Fit in a T61

I bought a T61 8892 02U.

I find the fit of the 9 cell battery a bit peculiar. Anyone experience this? Its not a perfect tight fit. It leaves the battery "semi-loose"

Thoughts?

i noticed this right away with my 15.4" T61p. unfortunately this seems to be by design. anyone have experience with the 6-cell battery to compare it to?

I have a T60 and have both 6 cell and 9 cell battery. When using 9 cell it's quite loose. Someone suggested to use couple layers of electric tape to fill the gap but I haven't actually tried it yet.

OTOH my 6 cell seems to be very tight fit.

With my 14.1 non-WS T61p, the 9-cell does have a little wobble when locked into place, but I'd not call it a lot. Certainly nothing I'd be inclined to lose any sleep over.

Has anyone physically laid a 6-cell and 9-cell side by side? Maybe there's a lip on the 6-cell that tightens things up?

Same here on a T60p. Seems there's something not right on the right hand side (away from the ac plug).

On the upside, good to know it's not only my machine. On the downside, I'm quite astonished to see this in a brand that prides itself on build quality.

This was also an issue with certain batteries in the T4x series. A little judiciously applied masking tape solved the problems with these!

Isnt there a better way than using Sticky Tape? Some other Padding / Filler item?

The 6 cell is currently in my wife's R60 and she's out of town. As soon as she's back I will take couple pics and post here.

Not concerned about the current state. More about POST "sticky tape". I hate the kind of "glue & stickyness" lots of tapes leave on things.

Anyone know some kind of De-Greaser / De-Tape-Glue-izer :)

Sometimes I feel like I know how to do everything ... not! :)

I have a 3M pin looking thingy that spits out some citrus smelling stuff. I bought it at Staples. Also check out http://tipnut.com/25-helpful-items-to-r ... esive-goo/

Well, you apply the tape to the inner surfaces of the battery, so you won't see it. You never need to remove it (as that will only give you a loose battery again) and the battery will die after a couple of years and the process repeats itself!
