Windows XP SP3
All updates done
Intel core 2 duo T9300
nVidia card
3gb ram

When I go in the display settings and I change the screen resolution to lower then 1440x900, the screen is blurry. I can see everything as usual, but more blurry. When I put it back to 1440x900, everything is sharp and nice again..

Is this normal?

That is normal for an LCD screen. The LCD screen has a specific amount of pixels (native resolution) and it has to take those set pixels to display more or less than it's made to do.

change the default font size to something larger, for one.

Therein lies one thing Vista can do fairly well. I lowered the resolution of my T61p from native from 1400x1050 to 1280x1024, raised fonts from 96dpi to 120dpi and use the built-in nVidia scaling. The result is very, very, very acceptable (not perfect, but entirely workable). ... JDH

Cleartype is turned off by default in XP. Go to the desktop >display properties>appearance>effects>cleartype and turn it on. Should make the world of difference at non-native resolutions!
