T61p freezes after Vista SP1 installed

#1 Post by MCheiron » Fri May 23, 2008 5:53 pm

Hello everybody,

I have mz T61p now for 8 months and am very happy with it. Unfortunately, since I have installed Vista SP1 (64bit), Vista is freezing from time to time when running on battery. I have until now not experienced the freeze when on external power.

Does anybody else have the problem or a solution?

Thanks, MCheiron

I have had issues with a new Thinkpad T61p running on wireless and battery power with the Turbo cache enabled. See my description at http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/mess ... ad.id=7979. SP1 was factory installed so I never had a chance to try it without it. From what I understand though SP1 is pretty necessary.

Right now I am running on a disabled turbo cache to see if that was the problem. So far so good but time will tell as I just started this. My current theory is that that SP1 introduced an bug in the turbo cache which causes this.

T61p freezes after Vista SP1 installed

Between the 3 T61p we have here at work experiencing this problem, we've now been running a solid week with the Turbo cache disabled and using wireless and battery, and not a single freeze. We feel pretty confident now that this was our problem, but not sure why this is happening. These 3 TP61p were shipped with Vista-32 SP1.

My T61 came with Vista but no SP1. It kept freezing randomly until I disabled Turbo Memory. After SP1 I tried TurboMem again, and it still make my T61 freeze. So it's off. :?

Possible option, or change with effect

I can't explain why, but i did remove KB937286and the computer stop freezing... I came to this idea after i restore vista in sp0 - i did a backup because i don't trust enough the whole stuff - and moved to sp1 again. It did work nice until i installed KB937286. Maybe that will be usefull to others. Regards
