What's below the touchpad?

I have kind of a weird question. I've been experiencing a good deal of heat coming from the underside of the laptop, directly below the touchpad. Now, I know the RAM is under there; however, is there something underneath the RAM that might be causing the heat? The rest of the laptop (GPU et al) is relatively cool, but that one part seems to heat up like its nobody's business.

There is nothing but the motherboard under the ram and nothing else but the frame and the case.

Thank you for your answer.
Does anybody else have the same problem with their T61? The bottom, under the touchpad, gets extremely hot, even when its not under much load. The top, however, gets slightly warm, but nothing more. Is this just how it is? Or could their be a problem?

I'd say it could be the Memory. I cannot be SURE but I have experienced similar case with the Memory on the bottom of my Dell 9300.

My T60p is very warm there also. Not so hot that it cannot be touched but very warm. There are two 2gb chips in mine.
The top Ultranav is very cool to the touch.

Slightly left to the touchpad is video card, slightly right/below is RAM. Since you have "p" model, it is very common for video card to get very hot and thus heat up everything around.
