Where are the T6x weights?

#1 Post by lparsons » Sun May 25, 2008 10:34 pm

I'm pondering replacing my Thinkpad R32 with a T60 or T61. I've been poking around the lenovo website and playing with several different configurations.

However, I cannot seem to get information from the website on what a given system will weigh. In particular, how much weight is added by going from the 14" to the 15" display? My R32 of course has a 14" display, and does get a little heavy on days when I carry it a lot - especially if I need to carry it plus the ac adapter. I'm trying to figure out if my shoulder would ever forgive me for going to a larger display.

And of course when I'm at my desk, I use an external monitor anyways, so I don't really *need* a display larger than 14" very often (if at all really).

It would also be interesting to know how the larger display changes the physical dimensions, and if there are any other options that may produce larger-than-expected changes in size and/or mass. And no, I don't have anywhere near enough money to buy an X300. :)

Cool, thanks for finding that. I'm sure it was probably right under my nose and I just managed to overlook it.

I'll poke through some older messages in this area as well, and see if T6x owners have had as good of experiences with their thinkpads as I have had with my R32. If they have - and I suspect they likely have - then it should be a reasonable upgrade for me.

One thing on that sheet that surprised me was that apparently the discrete graphics option sucks the battery down noticeably faster. Though it looks like they only recommend Linux for the integrated graphics model anyways, so I guess that's not a big deal. (and I have workstations at work to do the heavy graphics crunching anyways).

This thread has some precisely and accurately measured weights of the T6*.

Another downside is that units with discrete graphics often use bigger AC adapters, adding to your travel weight.
