The battery has been through fewer than half a dozen cycles. It charges to 100%, or so the indicator claims, but when the machine is used on battery the power runs out in less than an hour, dropping precipitously at the end. I assume the problem is with the battery--not one of the recalls, FWIW--but would like to be more sure of what's wrong before contacting Lenovo.
The machine is a 6371-74U: Original description: T5500(1.66GHz), 512MB RAM, 80GB 5400rpm HD, 15.4in 1280x800 LCD, Intel 950, CDRW/DVD, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 6c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro.
The only change is an upgrade to 2GB RAM.
Thanks.
