Latest X1300/X1400 Driver for XP/T60

I've read about a number of problems with ATI X1300/1400 drivers here, but it's been a while since I've seen anything new reported. Is the latest driver available through System Update stable? I'm currently at 8.362-070405a, which is 4-5 revisions behind. I've had one or two blue screens over the last month that were preceded by video corruption, and one of them referenced an issue with an ATI driver file.

Just curious as to whether it's safe and advisable to get things current. Thanks.

your situation is unique to your configuration apparently as i had no errors at all with any driver released from Lenovo. Not saying there isn't problems but just that you'd probably have to test it yourself and see if it works. Drivers themselves aren't usually that unstable.. just the way an application interacts with it is where the problem comes in. Driver update solve app compat problems but then they introduce new ones. Sometimes the new ones affect you and sometimes they don't.

I thought I'd read elsewhere on this forum that the drivers had to be specially adapted for the hardware in which the video controller is installed. The "stock" ATI drivers work fine? Do they interact OK with the ThinkVantage hotkey utilities?

for that stuff you're better off installing ones from Lenovo. The ATI drivers are generic and wouldn't work so well in that environment. Some people rather them though because they want the "clean" feeling without all the custom stuff.

FYI - Those are for Windows XP it seems. They are version .493 which are newer than anything from Lenovo now (they have .442 on the site) I couldn't test them though as i'm using Vista.
