T60p & Advanced Mini Dock: Limited Ethernet Bandwidth

I've been struggling to diagnose what I thought was an issue with my router and slow transfer rates. My cable connection is capable of 30Mbps down/5Mbps up, which I can exceed when connected directly to the modem.
Connected through my router(s), though, I was getting about 1/2 - 3/4 the speed I should. I assumed the router was the problem.
Turns out the problem is with the ethernet port in my Advanced Mini Dock. I get full speed through the T60p's built in ethernet. (I had been testing the direct-to-modem connection in the basement.. connected via the built in port.)
It seems that there is either an incompatibility/misconfiguration of some sort, or the dock/system connector has severely limited throughput.
Has anyone else had this issue?
I remember all of the fuss about the Advanced Dock's 1xPCIExpress throughput, despite it having a 8x connector..
