Can a T61 FingerPrint Reader do this?
I don't own a T61. But I'd like to know if the fingerprint reader, possibly working in conjunction with some software, can do the following:
When you're in a browser, and are prompted to login with, say with a username and a password, you swipe your finger across the reader and (some application) populates the correct username and password into the fields?
And does this also extend to work outside of a browser, say for logging into your windows account on a domain (the Alt.Ctlr-Del login), or logging into other windows applications, that need a uername or password or both.
So called password vault programs have the option nowadays to do just that, for example the Security Device in FireFox does this, as does IE password manager.
I'd be interested to know if this exists, (out of the box?), and if anyone has deployed it across an organization on multiple computers.

Fingerprint + CSS (along with included app Password Manager) does exactly that. You can save passwords for various things and then access them with a single swipe of the finger.
It doesn't work with Vista UAC (yet i guess). Doesn't work with some other things too but in general it works and works good.

Also Click here to read some more about CSS and what it can do.
I doubt it works with other password managers. It comes with that plus an app for folder encryption also. What other applications are you talking about that would require password login? I don't think it supports most apps as it's specific to certain password protocols.

Password Manager program is designed to provide support for an HTML-based request for a logon ID and password. However, this program does not support HTML with Java. There is limited support for non-HTML applications. Specifically, the Password Manager program supports the AT&T VPN client and Lotus Notes authentication protocol only.

Thanks for all the into. For a work project, I wanted to know if it will work logging to a desktop from Alt-Ctrl-Del. And also with Outlook 2003.
As for other password managers, I was thinking (hoping) not to have to make a switch from whatever else is in use. I know it's not CSS, becxase very few if any ThinkPads currently in use.
And for personal interest, I'd like to know if it will work with home use apps, like MS Money, and username/password fields in FireFox.

I didn't know it works with folder encryption, at least the older version I had didn't. Is this with the CSS encryption? I wonder if it can be rigged to work with Truecrypt.SHoTTa35 wrote: I doubt it works with other password managers. It comes with that plus an app for folder encryption also. Interesting. I might try this out sometime for all the various logins & passwords.
