When docked - External mouse stops

This is with my T61 installed on the Advanced Dock. When it initially boots up, both external keyboard and mouse inputs work fine.

However, once it settles down when I log on, the external mouse port mysteriously stops responding. The internal glide-pad and pointer stick both continue to work perfectly, but the docking station's input fails to respond.

(UPDATE)

6-Jun-08: I've found a solution to this that I'm hoping will be temporary, but I'm not holding my breath.

Specifically: Fry's Electronics sells a USB-to-PS/2 adapter cable which can take both a KB and mouse into one USB port. I'm typing on it right now, in fact, and I'm happy to say that the trackball's working just fine.

I also have, on order from an Ebay seller, a "Genuine IBM" PS/2 splitter cable, specifically built to work with the ThinkPad docks. I'm going to give it a try as well, just to see if it's something odd in the cable pinout. If it works, I will make an effort to decipher the pinout and post it for all to use.

So -- Stay tuned. I may have another answer for this most odd and vexing issue in the next week or so.

Keep the peace(es).

Thanks much.
