T60p Rescue and Recovery Critical Patch error.. help?

I have T60p 2.33 GHz, 3MB Ram, Win XP 14" screen. When using thinkvantage System update, it tells me i need to update my system update. I did. It tells me i need the R&R critical patch for windows update KB917422 so i downloaded & installed. But each time i log back into system update, it gives me exact same message as if i never did it. Any thoughts? Thanking all you experts in advance.
