Since a fresh install of XP Pro, I've looked at a better alternative for Access Connections.

I've tried WIFI Hopper (fully functional trial version, http://wifihopper.com) which seems to offer great features. However, WIFI Hopper disconnects my wireless connection whenever I start scanning.

Am I just unlucky? Is there anyone who succeeded using HIFI Hopper? If yes, what are your findings?
Could the Atheros card help solving the problem as I've an Intel Wifi card?

What are you trying to achieve though? While scanning the network, your card needs to go through all available frequencies, which means it can't stay on the one you are connected to. The best possible behaviour can be returning to your connected network after the scan is finished.

AC doesn't disconnect when it scans.

Okay, my bad. At least with 4965AGN it doesn't stall completely, the transfer rate dropped to ~100kB/s, but not to zero. To be clear - I wouldn't expect it to drop the connection, but would expect it to stop receving/transmitting while scanning (and then returning back to continue where it stopped, "reconnecting"). I still think that my previous Intel BG card did that.

What problems are you trying to solve with Wifi Hopper? I guess Windows would provide ordinary wifi user with better experience, and so should AccessConnections, provided they work on your machine.
