T60: wireless LAN device turns off by itself

The WiFi device on my T60 turns off by itself periodically, for no apparent reason. Here's what happens: I'm browsing the web, and all of a sudden the left-most LED indicator light on the display turns off (i.e. the WiFi thing that looks like a carrot with quotes around it). My software still says I'm connected, but I'm not when this light turns off. I then reboot to get it to turn back on. Why does it turn off by itself, for no apparent reason? How can I fix this problem, so that WiFi stays on all the time? Thanks!

try disabling the power management of the device. Go to the Device Manager and then go down to Networking then right click the device - go to properties - then Power management. uncheck the boxes there and click ok.

Hi. Sorry, forgot to mention that I already unchecked those poewr management boxes in the device manager. It's still happening to me. Any other ideas? Thanks!

you using active connection or just using normal Windows to connect? If the light (tower) is going out then the driver is turning it off though.
Here's a test, do you have bluetooth built into your system? Turn it ON and just leave it running and see if BT and WIFI goes out at the sametime.
Also, when the tower goes blank go to the network thing and disable the LAN and enable it again and see if the tower comes back.
(i guess just to say, did you upgrade the latest drivers from Intel or Lenovo? I'm using the latest Intel ones and i think they work great!)

I got the current drivers for my device from IBM, but when I extract the zip files, it looks like there's an x32 version and a x64 version. I have a T60 running Windows XP Professional. Which version do I install? Thanks!

Sorry, I meant the drivers from Intel, not IBM.
