Error message while undocking process

I'm using my T60 (type 2008) with the Advanced Mini dock (with plugged power, VGA and USB cable). Usual combination to my mind.

However, eyery time I try to undock the notebook I get an error message saying that my computer cannot be undocked because the device 'printer connection LPT1' cannot be terminated as an application is still accessing it.

Not only that I haven't used that printer port for at least 3 years, the problem appears also after a OS boot when no application (such as a browser or Office) has been started.

Two questions:
- Is there any chance to find out at least *which* application is accessing the printer port?
- Can I just deactivate the port without causing any other problems in the BIOS?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

I would deactivate the port in BIOS as you suggest. This is not an uncommon problem, it's mostly printer drivers that are to blame.

I did so but still getting the exactly same error message. How is that possible?

There is a patch available from Microsoft, try it:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/818332 (assuming you've Windows XP)
