T61 Perynn support

Hi guys,

My understanding is that not all T61s support the Perynn chip. Some equipped with the right plannar actually support them while the other T61s display an error message ( that you can 'Esc' out of ) and the cpu fan doesn't start.

If I were to get a T61 with the plannar that doesn't support the Perynn chips, how could I fix it aside from sending it to Lenovo ?

Thanks

All new T-series thinkpads that lenovo is selling on it's website support Penryn, if you were to buy a T61 then why not get a one that actually supports the processor.

Im curious about this as well as I just got a new T61 (well, new to me :) from someone on the forums here and it was produced in the time when Penryn was just about coming out.

I think there are some threads on Notebookreview about this and people are confirming which planar they have had success with upgrades on.
