T60 Wide WSXGA+ (1680x1050) where to buy this LCD panel ?
Hi all,
(Sorry for me english:s)
I am T60 Wide owner, my LCD have *internal contact* problem:'(
All two-thirds low part of screen becomes white (like no power supply for all pixels on this two-thirds part).
If i soft pat at left of the screen (hard to translate for me), the display return normal but only for a moment.
For me it's certainly the LCD pannel -> horizontal line driver/demultiplexer contact problem:'(
Or bad contact on plug ???
-> Where I can buy LCD WSXGA+ (1680x1050) only for my T60 wide ? (8744-HDG)
Please help,
Pascal

Welcome to the forum!
There are actually two different manufacturers of WSXGA+ panels for T60's (such as your T60 8744-HDG); see 15.4 inch LCD service parts - ThinkPad T60, T60p (... 8744) Wide screen models being the Samsung 42T0329 and the LG-Philips 13N7020. The two panels are identical from a technical point of view (they will both work in your T60, and both be WSXGA+). To find out which one you have in your existing T60, go to Lenovo Warranty Lookup page, enter the 8744 and the serial number, and on the following page select the link "Parts Lookup for this system". Note the Mfgr. P/N and the FRU for the LCD. Information about how to take apart your T60 can be found in the Hardware Maintenance Manual - ThinkPad T60/p. Additional help - and more video's! - are available at Lenovo Training Video's.
In principle, you can buy the panel as an original spare part from IBM, but that is much more expensive than if finding it elsewhere - e.g. on eBay - so I recommend you Google a bit around! Alternatively, someone may help with you a new panel if posting a "WTB" (Want To Buy) advertisement in the Marketplace in this forum.
Good luck!
Johan

Take care about low price panels ! Most time they are gloss and it stinks like rotten hell. Also, take are about LCDs4less and other LCD specialists. They sell Lenovo FRU but after I contact them, they tell me it's compatible panel. They sold compatible panel at the same price than real Lenovo FRU. Don't buy panel in EU, shipping + taxes + import make the price as high as buy a new one in Europe.
I buy an LG LP154WU1 15,4" WUXGA brand new for 310 €. Same from Lcds4less : (440 $ + 25 $ shipping + 12 €) x 1.2 = ~375 €
15,4" WSXGA+ direct from IBM cost about 275 € FDP out.
