Do you have a recovery partition intact?
If you do, this is a problem with the recovery partition not having enough space. So get a partition manager program and add some more space from your main partition to the recovery partition.

PS: Also, you got the error when you tried to update Rescue and Recovery, correct?

recovery partition is definitely intact.

the error message came while downloading the new huge file into the partitioned (hidden) part of the drive.

i guess i will have to get a partition manager. i was thinking there might be an alternative way and not have to use a partition program.

thanks

Just out of curiosity what were you downloading in the hidden partition?

i was just trying to upgrade/update the computer with whatever file(s) was recommended. that was all recall.

it is similar in idea to Windows Updates on Tuesday when microsoft says-- here are the new files to help your computer run or be safer.

i have no idea what was the file.

the link was:

Code: Select all

Most files can be downloaded automatically and installed on your system with ThinkVantage System Update.

you asked:

i did some follow up research- you are going to laugh- the system update file which cause the problem apears to be....

Rescue and Recovery Patch to Optimize Spare Allocation of Backups

---
ironic, is it not? but i tried again to dl and install this patch and the remaining 1 critical patch and all went well this time. no error message.

i guess the problem is solved. it looks like i do not have to redo the partition. or at least at this moment it appears solved.

thanks everyone!
