Integrated Camera?

#1 Post by Medicatedsoap » Tue Jun 24, 2008 3:16 pm

Could someone explain to me how to setup and use the integrated camera on my T61? Every time I try to do something that would require a camera (such as a video call in MSN or capturing a video on Windows Movie Maker), it says I don't have one.

I know some models don't have one, but when I go to Start > Programs, it's one of the options, though the only option is 'Uninstall.'

I also went to my Control Panel > "Cameras and Scanners" and there were none listed...

Providing details about your OS will be vital information for us to help you out.

Assuming you're running Windows Vista, make sure you know about the following info:

Windows Vista has no operating system-based applications or utilities to display images captured by the Integrated Camera - 3000 N100, V100 / ThinkPad R61, T61, Z61m, Z61p, Z61t.

And make sure you've the drivers installed:

Integrated Camera Software for Windows Vista - ThinkPad R61, T61.

Then try running Windows Live Messenger.

Can you physically see the integrated camera? My T61p has the same program installed, yet lacks any built-in camera.

Ah, no I can't. I just presumed since it was in the program lists it was there. I suppose I'll just go out and buy a webcam. ;D

That was simple, if you didn't configure your T61 with integrated camera there's no way it'll start video conferencing.

I noticed that you can't get the T61 14" with a WXGA +(1440x900) and Camera. Just the Camera with WXGA(1280x700) I have a T61 with no camera with the WXGA +. Any reason I can's swap the screens?

Thanks

yup I had this same problem. I even called them and spoke to a number of people, no way to order 1440x900 screen with camera. But, you CAN buy a new LCD bezel and the camera from lenovo/ibm spare parts. There is a post on the forum with exact part numbers needed. good luck.
