Memory Management Problems with T61p

#1 Post by lndougstevens » Tue Jun 24, 2008 4:03 pm

I have a T61p with 2GB of memory (running XP SP3) and have a high page fault usage (grows to 2.0GB) at which point I can't use some of my apps (like Outlook 2007).

The remedy I have employed is to clean out my internet temporary files, cookies, etc. and then reboot.

That seems to work for awhile, then the problem reoccurs. I monitor my PF usage in the system monitor.

Can anyone shed some light on how to deal with this (other than buy more memory)?

I would suggest you try to identify the program/service/process(es) that is/are doing the damage.

I don't remember if you can view PFs for processes in XP's Task Manager; if not, hit the Sysinternals site -- his process explorer has lots of memory usage columns you can turn on.
